RUMOURS: Sacked Van Gaal Handed £5m Pay-Off

The Dutchman has seen his three-year deal cut short by 12 months, with his backroom staff bar Ryan Giggs also dismissed, while Jose Mourinho has also pocketed £4m

Louis van Gaal has pocketed a £5 million payoff following his sacking as Manchester United manager, according to widespread reports.

The Dutchman arrived at United’s Carrington training ground where himself and lawyer Paul Gilroy QC agreed a severance package with the club, having seen his three-year deal cut short by 12 months.

Van Gaal’s backroom staff, bar assistant Ryan Giggs, have also been given their marching orders as Jose Mourinho prepares to take over.

The Portuguese, it has also been reported, received a £4m windfall from the club to remain patient as speculation continued to grow around Van Gaal’s future without the club making a decisive step to sack him.
